More than Murder ..... brenda j woody
In July 1966, the bodies of two prominent businessmen and a stranger were found in an isolated field near a Western North Carolina tourist town. It was no secret that the two male victims were gay lovers, but the link to the unknown female victim found with them was never confirmed. The ill-fated investigation immediately created suspicion and incensed the imaginations of the community. While raising more questions than providing answers, the investigation quickly uncovered a secret world of wild parties, drugs, sex and blackmail… possibly involving some of the most prominent citizens of the community. An array of leads and theories pointed to several suspects and came up with just as many motives. Rumors of cover-up, conspiracy and bungling exist to this day, due in part to the disappearance of all the evidence relative to the case and the fact that no one was ever charged with the crime. Some folks in town would love to consider the case closed, hanging the blame on the first career criminal available. Finally, after a forty-three year wait, the first writing based on this unsolved triple murder has just been released despite years of fear and rumored intimidation. Upon reading this suspense filled account, it becomes obvious that there were far too many questions left unanswered to even begin to consider this cold case closed. More than Murder is a novel based on this true story of a yet unsolved triple murder. This fictional tale encompasses the sordid details of the real life case, rekindles old questions and presents new possibilities. The story begins the weekend of the murders as seen through the eyes of the characters in only four of the many possible crime scenarios. It picks up when the victims are reported missing and carries into the investigation as seen through the eyes of the main character, a prominent attorney from an old and very well respected family.
